During the month of August this year, the Goede Mensen Foundation sent an artist from The Netherlands, Christiaan Lieverse, to work with a group of young students and children on an Art Project. The purpose of this project was to produce a set of original photographs, drawings, paintings and collages that would each tell a story about the young artist, whilst at the same time revealing the everyday life experiences of the child in each of the artworks that was created. The project ran over four days and all of the children had a great deal of fun taking part in the project. These works of art will be auctioned at the Gala Evening in Eindhoven on 09 November 2012.
It has been a long and very involved process but the Internet Café has finally become a reality. All the computers in the Computer Room have been networked and linked to a server. A high-speed ADSL line has been installed and is now active. The computers are currently being upgraded with more recent software and antivirus will be installed in the near future. It is expected that this service will be in great demand by members of the local community, many of whom do not possess their own computers. Our sincere thanks go to the Goede Mensen Foundation from The Netherlands for their extremely generous support of this project.
The number of children attending the Educare Centre has increased rapidly over the past two years. This created an urgent need for more classroom space. As a temporary arrangement, two of the Educare classes were accommodated in the Skills section of the building whilst their new classrooms were being built. However, occupation of the new rooms was delayed by late changes to the building plan and a major challenge with regard to water coming up from underground. These challenges have now been overcome and the building is expected to be completed and occupied in the next few days. Once again, our sincere thanks go to the Goede Mensen Foundation for their generous sponsorship of this project.
